Distinction: Cindy Matute-Brown is a Gun Sense Candidate

To be acknowledged by Mom's Demand Action and Everytown for Gun Safety as a Gun Sense Candidate is one of the great honors of this election so far. Everytown is the largest gun violence prevention organization in America. Their focus on registering voters, electing officials who will govern with gun safety in mind, hold elected officials accountable, educating people about gun violence and, ultimately, ending gun violence, resonates with me and reflects my values. The first duty of government is to protect its citizens and Everytown for Gun Safety is at the forefront of that mission. We must elect leaders who will govern with gun safety and gun sense in mind.

Gun violence prevention and safety will be a pillar in my administration. In the wake of yet another tragic loss of life due to gun violence, we must commit again to combatting this epidemic. Our residents, our children, deserve to live in a community free of gun violence, go to school without fear, and feel safe and at home here in West Orange. We have just seen again how gun violence impacts a community, and we must work to ensure that such senseless loss of life does not happen. Moms Demand Action is at the forefront of advocating for common sense gun safety to ensure our communities can safely thrive. I am so honored to be awarded this distinction by Moms Demand Action and Everytown for Gun Safety. I support their work and will do so as the next Mayor of West Orange.
